#ClimateJustice
April 2024

Following a call for input and in-person Climate Justice: Loss and Damage Consultation to inform the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Development, Manushya Foundation submitted a report ‘Loss and Damage Fund: Avoiding the Financing Trap for Global South: Case Study of Thailand’. The report aims to provide recommendations for the management of the Loss and Damage Fund while informing on the Thai context through case studies and analysis of legislation. The Special Rapporteur will include relevant information to inform his own report, to be presented in 2024 to the UN Human Rights Committee and General Assembly.

Our report delves into the importance of implementing a human rights based approach when managing the Loss and Damage Fund. South East Asia is home to one third of the world’s indigenous peoples population, they are most impacted by climate change. Therefore our recommendations place the voices and needs of indigenous communities and women from the global south at the forefront of solutions in combating climate change.
