Access To Information: Empowering Citizens and Shaping Democracy

On this International Day for Universal Access to Information, we fight for the fundamental right that is Acess to Information! In Southeast Asia, this right is too often violated by governments who choose to deny their citizens access to information to strengthen their control over them and impose authoritarian regimes that leave no place for freedom.

Besides, the current global health crisis was used by Southeast Asian governments to further restrict their citizens’ right to information, implementing COVID-19-related laws to prevent their citizens from being properly informed about the pandemic.
