Artists Port Faiyen and Peungboon sentenced on defamation charges!

ด่วน! วันนี้ (15 ส.ค.) ศาลได้พิพากษาคดีของ #พอร์ตไฟเย็น ในความผิด #มาตรา112 และ #พึ่งบุญ ในข้อหาดูหมิ่นเจ้าพนักงาน

เมื่อเวลา 10.59 น. ศาลอาญาฯพิพากษาคดี #พอร์ตไฟเย็น กรณีโพสต์ข้อความพาดพิง #สถาบันกษัตริย์ เมื่อปี 2559 ว่าทั้ง 3 โพสต์มีความผิดตาม #มาตรา112 โดยศาลได้สั่งลงโทษจำคุกกระทงละ 3 ปี รวมเป็น 9 ปี ด้วยกัน แต่เนื่องด้วยจำเลยให้การเป็นประโยชน์จึงลดเหลือโทษจำคุกเพียง 6 ปี

กรณีของ #พึ่งบุญ ศาลแขวงเชียงใหม่ฯพิพากษาว่ามีความผิดฐาน #ดูหมิ่นเจ้าพนักงาน กรณีตะโกนใส่ผู้กำกับ สภ.เมืองเชียงใหม่ระหว่างชุมนุมที่ประตูท่าแพ จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เมื่อปี 2563 โดยศาลได้สั่งลงโทษจำคุก 1 เดือน ปรับ 10,000 บาท โดยโทษจำคุกนั้นให้รอการลงโทษไว้ 2 ปี และให้คุมประพฤติจำเลย

#Abolish112 🚨 Artists Port Faiyen and Peungboon sentenced on defamation charges

❗️On Monday, August 15, 2022, a Criminal Court found Port Faiyen, singer and musician of the activist band Faiyen, guilty of violating Section 112 of the Penal Code on royal defamation. The case against him stems from three Facebook posts he made in 2016, in which he raised questions about the monarchy and shared lyrics criticizing the royal institution. Port Faiyen was charged with three counts of royal defamation, each carrying a three-year imprisonment term. His sentence was reduced from nine to six years for his cooperation with authorities. Port is now temporarily released on bail following an appeal by his lawyers.

⚠️ In another judgment dropped today, tattoo artist and political activist Peungboon was also found guilty of defaming law enforcement by the Chiang Mai District Court for cursing at the superintendent of Meung Chiangmai Provincial Police Station during a protest at Tha Phae Gate, Chiang Mai in 2020. He was sentenced to one month and given a THB 10,000 fine. However, he is granted a sentence suspension for two years, during which time he will be discharged on probation and under watch.
