🌏 On hashtag#InternationalMotherLanguageDay, we must recognize that linguistic diversity is under threat globally. When Indigenous and minority languages disappear, so do the histories, cultures, and rights of those who speak them.

🇹🇭 Thailand is home to over 70 regional languages, yet many are vanishing. This linguistic erasure disproportionately affects Indigenous communities, ethnic minorities, and the Deaf community, stripping them of their ability to access justice, education, and self-determination.

📢 Language deprivation is systemic oppression. Without their mother tongues, communities are prevented from:

⚠️ Advocating for their rights

⚠️ Defending their lands and resources

⚠️ Passing down generational knowledge

Governments must take urgent action to protect linguistic diversity—not as a symbolic effort, but as a human rights imperative.

At Manushya Foundation, we believe in linguistic justice as a pillar of social justice. It’s time to decolonize language policies, invest in multilingual education, and amplify the voices of marginalized communities.

Thailand must take urgent action to champion, normalize, and protect all languages—not as a symbolic gesture, but as a fundamental human right.

Linguistic justice is social justice. We must work together to ensure that every language is valued, every culture is respected, and every voice is heard.
