In Thailand, internet freedomĀ remains heavily restricted. Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the government discredited opposition members using state-sponsored disinformation and targeted pro democracy activists through arrests, surveillance, and harassment. The Computer-related Crimes Act (CCA)Ā is used to block websites and remove content, while the lĆØse-majestĆ©Ā law (Section 112) continues to impose harsh prison sentences on those criticizing the monarchy online. Despite the end of the emergency decree related to the COVID-19 pandemic in September 2022, cases against individuals charged under its provisions continue.

As we come together to celebrate the International Day of Democracy, letā€™s remember that democracy isnā€™t just a system, it's the essence of freedom and the right to be heard. šŸŒšŸ—£ļø Freedom of expression is the spark that lights the way toward an open, fair, and inclusive world for everyone. šŸŒˆāœØ
