š Growing up as a Lao refugee in the disenfranchised 'ghetto' suburbs of Paris, Emilie experienced first-hand negative impacts of injustice, racism, discrimination, exclusion, inequalities, and inequities. As a child, she always dreamed of bringing justice to her neighbors and communities. This had rooted her passion for fighting for equality, equity, and social justice.
š§” By founding Manushya in 2017, Emilie followed her childhood dream and vision of reinforcing the power of local communities and people who are put in situations of marginalization to fight for their rights. She supports them in voicing their concerns and being their own agents of change. This way, they can be seen, heard, visible, at the center of decision-making on the issues that affect them, and be able to resist authoritarianism, fight injustice and push back on extreme capitalism that puts profit over people and the planet.
