💕On the 3rd December 2024, the Manushya team received the Human Rights Tulip Award at the Netherlands Embassy in Bangkok. It was a humbling reminder and motivation for us to keep doing the work for our communities as well as with ourselves.

🌷The Human Rights Tulip is awarded to appreciate the work of organizations and individuals supporting human rights movements. Manushya was recognised for our work to support and amplify movements in Thailand and Laos. Ambassador Remco van Wijngaarden described Manushya as “an organization that has, excuse my English, a lot of balls.” We accept this commendation in the most intersectional feminist sense possible, and want to thank our wonderful, fierce team once again for the ways in which we have stood alongside each other, even in spite of setbacks, and celebrate our achievements.

🌼The ceremony was then followed by a powerful screening of the film ‘Who’s Afraid of Nathan Law’ and the Hong Kong Umbrella Revolution. The film was also a profound reminder to us about the interconnectedness of our global movements, which we will continue to learn more about and stand in solidarity with.

✊We want to extend our thanks to everyone, from our team to our broader community, for all the support you have provided in resources, engagement, and morale. We appreciate it deeply, especially as a small organization that is beyond perfect and still growing. We thus dedicate this award to our whole broader community - this is a celebration of you too. We promise to keep working to fight, heal, hold ourselves accountable, and stay focused on our collective dreams of liberation and equity.
