♀️ International Women Human Rights Defenders Day! ✊ Today, we salute all women fighting for human rights for their courage and determination to continue their fight despite the obstacles!
📍The term Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs) refers to all people of all genders who stand up for women's rights, but also to women who defend human rights.
📢 We asked our amazing board member Sugarnta Sookpaita from the Women Workers for Justice Group: Why is it important for her to defend human rights?
👉 Sugarnta answered:
“The reason I am still here helping the migrant workers is that I believe that we can all make a difference if we start with ourselves. So we keep fighting. If I help people to get their basic rights, they will surely help us to make the world a better place. I believe that change is possible, but it has to start with ourselves first.”
💪Be the change you want to see! Sugarnta fights for the labor rights of female workers and to overcome violence and discrimination against migrant women in the workplace.
Thanks to the work of Sugarnta and other wonderful WHRDs, together, we can make the world a better place!🌏 At the same time, we demand the Thai government to recognize the crucial role of WHRDs and ensure their protection against harassment, SLAPPs (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) and violence as per the UN Declaration on human rights defenders, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women!

♀️ วันนักปกป้องสิทธิมนุษยชนสตรีสากล!✊🏻 ในวันนี้ เราขอสดุดีให้แก่ความกล้าหาญและความมุ่งมั่นของผู้หญิงทุกคนที่ออกมาต่อสู้กับอุปสรรคต่าง ๆ เพื่อปกป้องสิทธิมนุษยชน!
📍 นิยามของคำว่า นักปกป้องสิทธิมนุษยชนหญิง หมายถึง คนทุกคนและทุกเพศสภาพที่ออกมายืนหยัดเพื่อปกป้องสิทธิของสตรี และยังรวมถึงผู้หญิงทุกคนผู้ยืนหยัดเพื่อปกป้องสิทธิมนุษยชนในทุก ๆ ด้านอีกด้วย
📢 เราได้สัมภาษณ์คุณ ศุกาญจน์ตา สุขไผ่ตา กรรมการบริหารมูลนิธิมานุษยะ และผู้อำนวยการกลุ่มคนงานหญิงเพื่อความยุติธรรม ในเรื่อง “ทำไมการออกมายืนหยัดและปกป้องสิทธิมนุษยชนจึงสำคัญ?”
👉 คุณ ศุกาญจน์ตา ได้ให้คำตอบกลับมาว่า:
“สาเหตุที่พี่ยังอยู่ตรงนี้เพื่อช่วยเหลือกลุ่มแรงงานข้ามชาติ เพราะพี่เชื่อว่าคนเราทุกคนถ้ามีอุดมการณ์ที่ยึดมั่น มันจะสามารถเปลี่ยนแปลงสังคมได้โดยเริ่มต้นที่ตัวเราก่อน เราก็เลยทำมันต่อโดยไม่หยุดยั้ง ถ้าหากพี่สามารถช่วยให้แรงงานเหล่านี้เข้าถึงสิทธิขั้นพื้นฐานได้ พวกเขาถึงจะเข้าใจและออกมาช่วยเราเปลี่ยนแปลงโลกได้ และพี่ก็มีความเชื่อว่าความเปลี่ยนแปลงมันจะเกิดได้มันจะต้องเริ่มที่ตัวเราก่อน”
💪จงเป็นความเปลี่ยนแปลงที่คุณอยากจะเห็น! คุณศุกาญจน์ตาได้ออกมาต่อสู้และยืนหยัดเพื่อสิทธิของแรงงานหญิงและยังคงต่อสู้เพื่อขจัดปัญหาความรุนแรงและการเลือกปฏิบัติต่อแรงงานหญิงในสถานที่ทำงาน
เราขอขอบคุณคุณศุกาญจน์ตาและนักปกป้องสิทธิมนุษยชนหญิงผู้เข้มแข็งทุกท่าน ด้วยความเป็นน้ำหนึ่งใจเดียวกัน เราสามารถเปลี่ยนแปลงโลกของเราให้ดีขึ้นได้!🌏 ในขณะเดียวกัน เราขอเรียกร้องให้รัฐบาลไทยตระหนักถึงบทบาทสำคัญของนักปกป้องสิทธิมนุษยชนหญิงและภาครัฐจะต้องประกันและปกป้องสิทธิว่านักปกป้องสิทธิมนุษยชนหญิงทุกคนจะปลอดภัยจากการถูกคุกคามการฟ้องคดีปิดปาก หรือ SLAPPs (การดำเนินคดีเชิงยุทธศาสตร์เพื่อระงับการมีส่วนร่วมของประชาชนในกิจการสาธารณะ) รวมถึงความรุนแรงอื่น ๆ ตามที่ปฏิญญาสหประชาชาติว่าด้วยนักปกป้องสิทธิมนุษยชน กติการะหว่างประเทศว่าด้วยสิทธิพลเมืองและสิทธิทางการเมือง และอนุสัญญาระหว่างประเทศว่าด้วยการขจัดการเลือกปฏิบัติต่อสตรีในทุกรูปแบบ!
