📍October 15th is marked as #InternationalDayofRuralWomen👩🏻🧔🏼♀️👩🏼🦳🧕🏽👩🏽🦱👱🏿♀️, Let’s salute how brave these Thai Rural Women are!
🇺🇳 #InternationalDayofRuralWomen is dedicated to rural women, including indigenous women, living in rural places and to celebrate the strength and contributions of these women towards rural development and the community's well-being, despite the struggles and the discrimination based on their identity & gender.
⚠️ #GenderEquality is a more complex issue within Thai communities, where patriarchal traditions expect men to be the community leaders, household heads & main income earners. Extremely vulnerable to sexual & gender-based abuse, women especially the marginalized group face barriers to access justice due to social & cultural stigma from registering complaints of discriminatory behavior from officers & limited legal literacy.
💡At the #RBHRForum2022 🇺🇳, Manushya Foundation and representatives of our community board members had the opportunity to bring the issues they faced and are still struggling with today to the United Nations forum. To celebrate #InternationalRuralWomenDay, we would like to share the stories of these brave women.

📍On the #InternationalDayofRuralWomen, Manushya Foundation stands by all rural women including indigenous women, women migrant workers, and marginalized women groups in Thailand who still face the double burden of discrimination based on their indigenous identity & gender.
