It's #PrideMonth! šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ

A month of advocacy and awareness-raising but also a month full of fun and celebration of diversity, authenticity, kindness, and understanding! To kick-off, we asked our amazing Board Member, LGBTIQ+ pro-democracy activist and sex worker rights defender Sirisak "Ton" Chaited for a message that should be shared for everyone to hear. Here's what Ton said! šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

"Society thinks that Thailand is an 'LGBTIQ+ Paradise', but the truth is, Thailand still lacks legal gender recognition of LGBTIQ+ people. Consequently, LGBTIQ+ people can't enjoy their basic human rights in many aspects, the right to #MarriageEquality and family establishment, for example. Gender-based harassment and hate crimes against LGBTIQ+ people are also common in the country because there's still a lack of respect and understanding of diversity and inclusion at both the legal and public levels."

"The LGBTIQ+ community never asked for special treatment. All we want is to be treated as Equal Human Beings as we deserve."

#WeAreManushyan ā™¾ļø Equal Human Beings

Manushya Foundation will always stand with the LGBTIQ+ community, and we have been tirelessly advocating for the rights of LGBTIQ+ people in Thailand and abroad. Have a look at some of our previous work on LGBTIQ+ issues, equality, and human rights ā¤µļø
