Governments in Southeast Asia continue their online crackdown on netizens, silencing critical voices, restricting people’s Freedom of Expression, and imposing online surveillance and censorship on social media platforms! Join us, as activists and experts from the ground will be addressing this worrying situation in our #RightsCon session ‘Online Freedom under attack: Weaponizing misinformation, disinformation and ‘fake news’ for censorship in Southeast Asia’.

Leading Voices and Digital Rights Defenders including Sopheap Chak, Damar Juniarto, Ma Thida, Emilie Pradichit, Blandina Lintang and Dhevy Sivaprakasam will be sharing how ASEAN governments control the internet to silence any criticism against them especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, misusing it as an excuse to pass severe orders and punish people and also companies!
