(EN Below) 🚨#SaveChana is possible with the power of the people! ✊🏼 หลังจากกลุ่มชาวบ้านจะนะ จ.สงขลา ตั้งหลักชุมนุมหน้าทำเนียบรัฐบาลมานานกว่า 1 อาทิตย์และถูกสลายการชุมนุมด้วยความรุนแรงในวันที่ 6 ธันวาคมที่ผ่านมา ในที่สุด คณะรัฐมนตรีก็ตกลงให้ชะลอโครงการนิคมอุตสาหกรรมจะนะออกไปก่อนจนกว่าการประเมินสิ่งแวดล้อมทางยุทธศาสตร์ (SEA) จะเป็นที่ยุติ และตั้งคณะกรรมการเฉพาะเพี่อตรวจสอบข้อเท็จจริงและดูแลการจัดทำผลการประเมินสิ่งแวดล้อมและแผนต่างๆที่เกี่ยวข้อง
📍 หลังทราบข่าว ชาวบ้านจะนะที่มาร่วมชุมนุมในกรุงเทพฯได้เริ่มเดินทางกลับบ้านแล้วในวันนี้ การต่อสู้เพื่อความยุติธรรมของเครือข่ายจะนะรักษ์ถิ่นนั้นเป็นข้อพิสูจน์ที่ชัดเจนว่า “NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US” รัฐบาลจะต้องไม่ดำเนินนโยบายหรือแผนพัฒนาใดๆหากไม่มีการมีส่วนร่วมโดยตรงจากสมาชิกในชุมชุนที่จะได้ผลกระทบจากนโยบายดังกล่าว!
⚠️ แต่เราจะไม่หยุดเพียงเท่านี้ เพราะอีกหนึ่งคำสัญญาอันว่างปล่าวจากรัฐบาลไม่ถือเป็นชัยชนะที่แท้จริง! รัฐบาลจะต้องไม่ชะลอโครงการนิคมอุตสาหกรรมนี้เพียงเพื่อแค่ซื้อเวลาและเพื่อหันเหความสนใจของสื่อมวลชน! ถึงเวลาแล้วที่รัฐบาลไทยจะต้องปฏิบัติตามคำสัญญาที่เคยให้ไว้กับประชาคมโลกว่าจะเป็นแชมป์เปี้ยนแห่งการพัฒนาทางธุจกิจอย่างยั่งยืนและเคารพสิทธิมนุษยชนในเอเชีย #BizHumanRights ดังนั้น ทางมูลนิธิมานุษยะจึงขอเรียกร้องให้รัฐบาลพลเอกฯ ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชาหยุดทำกำไรบนความทุกข์ของประชาชน #PeopleOverProfit และจัดตั้งให้มีการประเมินสิ่งแวดล้อมทีโปร่งใสและเป็นธรรม พร้อมให้สมาชิกชุมชนชาวจะนะได้มีส่วนร่วมในกระบวนการดังกล่าวอย่างเต็มที่!

🚨 #SaveChana is possible with the power of the people! ✊🏼 After a week of protests and a violent crackdown on Chana community members on Dec 6, the Cabinet has finally agreed to delay the controversial Chana Industrial project in Songkhla until the project's Strategic Environmental Assessment is resolved and assign a committee to evaluate the assessment and other related plans.
📍 Chana protesters ended their rallies and returned home on Dec. 15 after receiving the news. Their fight for justice is a testament to our belief: NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US. No development projects should be decided without the full and direct participation of the community members who will bear its impacts!
⚠️ We do not take this as a conclusive victory! We will not stop here - not with just another empty promise from the Thai government to just ‘stall’ the project's possibility in order to buy more time and defuse the media buzz! NOW is time for the Thai government to sincerely walk their talk and live up to their promise before the international community of being the #BizHumanRights champion in Asia. Manushya Foundation strongly urges the Government to put #PeopleOverProfit and ensure that a neutral and transparent Strategic Environmental Assessment is conducted with the full participation of the Chana community members!
