#SaveNittaya From Going to Jail Because of Thailand's Unfair Forest Reclamation Policy
#SaveNittaya: We Need your HELP! Please watch the video above and read below how you can save Nittaya Muangklang from going to jail because of the unfair implementation of Thailand’s forest policy. Nittaya is a fearless and courageous Woman Human Rights Defender who is leading her community and the Sab Wai villagers fighting back the injustice they are facing!
In Chaiyaphum Province, 14 villagers were unfairly sentenced to jail and treated as criminals for encroaching the land in Sai Thong national park area despite them living there their entire lives! Not to mention that the Forest Reclamation Policy was meant to target big businesses and investors who pollute the air, use a large chunk of land in the forest for their businesses and gain huge amounts of profits! Did you also know that this forest policy is actually funded by the World Bank, a United Nations Bank?
BUT Thai authorities prefer arresting poor villagers to justify the use of the World Bank’s funding supposedly given to reduce carbon emissions... Remember this: the 14 villagers are PROTECTORS of the forest! Not investors destroying it. The Thai government has to punish those truly destroying the forest and polluting the environment! We name it: investors and big businesses!
All 14 villagers including Nittaya were released on bail from July to August 2019, and their cases were sent to the supreme court.
This upcoming March 3rd, 2021 is the final supreme court hearing for Nittaya’s cases. The Thai Supreme Court will decide whether Nittaya (and consequently the rest of the villagers) is guilty or not. If the court finds her guilty, she will have to go back to jail and pay over 190,000 THB fine!
NOW we have less than a month left until March 3rd, 2021 to take action! Please help support Nittaya and the rest of the villagers by keeping your eyes on the case.

ทุกคนยังจำคดีไทรทองกันได้ไหม? คดีที่ชาวบ้าน 14 คนถูกศาลตัดสินจำคุกในความผิดฐานรุกที่ดินเขตป่าและเขตอุทยานแห่งชาติไทรทอง จังหวัดชัยภูมิ ชาวบ้านถูกตัดสินว่ากระทำผิด ถูกตัดสินว่าบุกรุกพื้นที่ป่า ทั้งๆที่ทุกคนอยู่ในพื้นที่มาตั้งแต่ก่อนที่แถบนั้นจะประกาศเป็นพื้นที่อุทยานเสียอีก
ชาวบ้านอยู่ในพื้นที่นี้ หมู่บ้านนี้กันมาทั้งชีวิต อยู่กันมาเป็นสิบ ๆ ปีตั้งแต่ก่อนจะมีนโยบายทวงคืนผืนป่าจากคสช.
ยิ่งกว่านั้น นโยบายทวงคืนผืนป่ามีจุดประสงค์เพื่อนำผืนป่าคืนมาจากกลุ่มนายทุนและธุรกิจใหญ่ที่บุกรุกป่าเพื่อทำธุรกิจ เป้าหมายหลักของนโยบายนี้คือการเพิ่มพื้นที่ป่าเพื่อลดสภาวะโลกร้อนซึ่งรัฐบาลได้รับเงินทุนจากธนาคารโลก (World Bank) เพื่อสนับสนุนนโยบายนี้ แต่แทนที่จะไปทวงพื้นที่ป่าคืนจากกลุ่มนายทุนและธุรกิจใหญ่ที่ใช้พื้นที่ป่าเป็นร้อย ๆ ไร่ ทางเจ้าหน้าที่รัฐกลับหันมาเล่นงานไล่ทวงที่จากชาวบ้านเกษตรกร
ชาวบ้านทั้ง 14 คนต้องติดคุกอยู่เป็นเดือนกว่าจะได้ประกันตัว คดีของทุกคนถูกยื่นต่อไปยังศาลฎีกา และในวันที่ 3 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2564 นี้ ศาลจะอ่านคำพิพากษาคดีของนิตยา ถ้าศาลฎีกาตัดสินว่านิตยากระทำความผิดจริง นิตยารวมทั้งชาวบ้านที่เหลือจะต้องติดคุกต่อ แล้วนิตยายังต้องจ่ายค่าเสียหายให้กับทางภาครัฐเป็นจำนวนเงินถึง 190,000 บาท นี่แค่คดีของนิตยาเท่านั้น แต่ค่าเสียหายที่ชาวบ้านบางคนต้องจ่ายนั้นสูงถึงล้านกว่าบาท
ตอนนี้เหลือเวลาอีกไม่ถึงหนึ่งเดือนก่อนจะถึงวันอ่านคำพิพากษาของศาลฎีกาในวันที่ 3 มีนาคมที่จะถึงนี้ เราอยากให้ทุกคนช่วยจับตาคอยฟังผลการตัดสินของศาลฎีกาและช่วยกันแชร์เรื่องของคดีไทรทองไปให้ไกลที่สุด ช่วยกันแชร์ต่อไปยังเพื่อน ๆ พี่ ๆ น้อง ๆ และคนรอบตัว ช่วยกันให้กำลังใจนิตยาและชาวบ้านทุกคน ให้ทุกคนรู้ว่าเรายังคอยสนับสนุนพวกเขา อย่าปล่อยให้พวกเขาต้องสู้เพียงลำพัง
