วันยุติความรุนแรงต่อสตรีสากล
#WhatsHappeningInThailand ✊🏼 ในโอกาสที่วันที่ 25 พ.ย. เป็นวันยุติความรุนแรงต่อสตรีสากล มูลนิธิมานุษยะจึงขอร่วมส่งเสียงเรียกร้องให้มีการคุ้มครองและสนับสนุนสิทธิฯของสตรี ผ่านชุดภาพเกี่ยวกับสตรีผู้ตกเป็นเหยื่อขอความรุนแรงในชีวิตคู่เพื่อสร้างความตระหนักรู้ต่อปัญหาดังกล่าว!👇🏼
⚠️ลองคิดดู.. หากคุณพบเจอความรุนแรงที่บ้าน ซึ่งเป็นที่ที่คุณควรรู้สึกปลอดภัยมากที่สุด แต่คุณกลับไม่เคยขอความช่วยเหลือเพราะครอบครัวของคุณ เพื่อนและเพื่อนบ้านของคุณ บอกคุณว่า ‘อย่าเลย ไม่เป็นไรหรอก’ คุณรู้ดีว่าหากคุณโทรเรียกตำรวจ พวกเขาก็ไม่สามารถปกป้องคุณได้ เพราะสุดท้ายแล้วคุณจะถูกผลักเข้าสู่ระบบยุติธรรมที่พยายามระงับปัญหาด้วยการไกล่เกลี่ยเพื่อ ‘รักษาไว้ซึ่งความสัมพันธ์ครอบครัว’ แทนที่จะคุ้มครองความปลอดภัยของผู้หญิง ในขณะคนที่สร้างบาดแผลต่อคุณสามารถเดินออกไปได้อย่างสบายใจโดยไม่ต้องชดใช้อะไรเลย
เพราะเหตุนี้ จึงไม่แปลกเลยที่ทำไมผู้หญิงไทยหลายคนถึงหันหลังให้กระบวนการยุติธรรม 🚨 เพราะตำรวจมักจะบอกพวกเธอว่าตำรวจทำอะไรไม่ได้ หรือผู้หญิงมักถูกกล่าวโทษว่าเป็นฝ่ายผิด นอกจากนั้น แม้ว่ากฏหมายไทยจะระบุให้มีเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจหญิงเป็นผู้รับผิดชอบการสอบปากคำผู้ร้องทุกข์ที่เป็นเพศหญิง แต่ในความเป็นจริงกลับไม่เป็นเช่นนั้น เนื่องจากไม่มีเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจหญิงเพียงพอ และปัญหาขาดแคลนตำรวจหญิงนี้จะทวีความรุนแรงขึ้นอีก หลังจากมีข่าวไม่รับผู้สมัครเพศหญิงเข้าโรงเรียนนายร้อยตำรวจในปีการศึกษา2562
🚫 ในภาวะโรคระบาดโควิท-19 ปัญหาความรุนแรงต่อเพศหญิงได้ทวีความรุนแรงขึ้นไปอีก อัตราความรุนแรงในครอบครัวพุ่งขึ้นกว่า 66 เปอร์เซ็นในช่วงเวลาดังกล่าว นอกจากนั้นเหยื่อความรุนแรงยังประสบปัญหาไม่สามารถเข้าถึงสถานที่หลบภัยหรือความช่วยเหลือทางการแพทย์ได้ โดยเฉพาะในหมู่ผู้หญิงที่มาจากกลุ่มคนชายขอบ เช่น กลุ่มแรงงานข้ามชาติ พวกเธอไม่สามารถของความช่วยเหลือได้เนื่องจากมาตรการปิดประเทศ และอุปสรรคทางภาษา
มูลนิธิมานุษยะขอยืนเคียงข้างผู้รอดชีวิตจากเหตุการณ์ความรุนแรงทางเพศและความรุนแรงในครอบครัวทุกคน!

📍ระหว่างกระบวนการทนทวนสถานการณ์สิทธิมนุษยชนของประเทศไทย ณ สหประชาชาติ รอบที่ 3 (Third Cycle of Universal Periodic Review - UPR) วันที่ 10 พ.ย. ที่ผ่านมา รัฐบาลไทยได้รับข้อแนะนำกว่า 16 ข้อเกี่ยวกับประเด็นการคุ้มครองสตรีจากความรุนงแรง โดยใน 16 ข้อนี้ มีถึง 3 ข้อแนะนำที่เรียกร้องให้มีการยุติความรุนแรงในครอบครัว นอกจากนั้น ณ ขณะนี้ รัฐบาลไทยยังไม่ตอบรับข้อแนะนำเกี่ยวกับความรุนแรงต่อสตรีพื้นเมืองเลย นี่เป็นตัวอย่างของการเลือกปฏิบัติแบบทับซ้อน (Intersectional Discrimination) ที่พวกเธอต้องประสบมาตลอด!
✊🏼 เราขอเรียกร้องให้รัฐบาลไทยตอบรับและปฏิบัติตามข้อแนะนำเกี่ยวกับการขจัดความรุนแรงต่อเพศหญิงจากกระบวนการUPRรอบนี้! All women are equal human beings, not less!

#WhatsHappeningInThailand ✊🏼 Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we are joining the world movement calling for better protection and promotion of the human rights of women who face such violence. Read our comic on women who face male violence in intimate relationships and learn more about the issue! 👇🏼
⚠️ Imagine facing violence at home, the place where you should feel most secure. You never look for help because your friends, family, and neighbors would try to talk you out of it. You also know that even if you reach out to the police, they won't provide you with protection. Instead of a fair trial, you will be pushed into a mediation process at the end of which the perpetrator will still walk free. In Thailand, the goal of such mediation is simply “to keep the relationship of family” instead of guaranteeing the protection and personal security of the women.
It is no wonder that many women turn away from the justice system. 🚨 For example, at police stations, they are often told that the officers can't do anything about their situation. Victims of sexual violence are then blamed and even though by Thai law, they have a right to be interrogated by a female officer, this usually doesn't happen as there are not enough of them. The situation is only going to get worse as, since 2019, women are prohibited from joining the Royal Police Cadet Academy.
🚫 The Covid-19 pandemic even deepened the crisis. The incidence of domestic violence cases increased by up to 66% during the pandemic and survivors have struggled to reach certain services such as shelters or healthcare in hospitals. Especially already marginalized groups such as migrant women found themselves without means due to border closures and language barriers.
At Manushya Foundation, we will always support survivors of domestic and other violence against women!

📍 During its 3rd UPR Review on 10 November 2021, Thailand received 16 recommendations on the protection of women from violence, including 3 recommendations on the elimination of domestic violence. Up until now, the Thai government hasn't yet accepted one of these recommendations concerning indigenous and ethnic minority women - a shocking example of intersectional discrimination they face!
✊🏼 We call on the Thai government to accept this remaining recommendation and to fully implement all recommendations concerning violence against women! All women are equal human beings, not less!
#VoicesOfThailand 🗣️ To support the UPR process, SHero and Manushya Foundation teamed up to develop the UPR Factsheet on Women who are subjected to male violence in intimate relationships, which details 3 challenges faced by these women, including a COVID-19 perspective.
