🔥 #USAID Funding Cuts: A Death Blow to Democracy & Human Rights

⚠️  What’s happening?Trump’s executive order has halted nearly all U.S. government support for democracy, human rights, and press freedom worldwide.→ 🏠 Manushya Foundation was forced to close 9 safe houses in Thailand that protected 35 human rights defenders and their families fleeing authoritarian regimes in Laos and Cambodia.→ 💔 Without protection, activists are at risk of arrest, deportation, or even assassination—like the Cambodian opposition member who was shot dead in Bangkok last month.


🗣 "I think my heart is broken. My soul is out of my body." — A Cambodian opposition politician forced to leave Manushya’s safe house in Bangkok, now fearing arrest or worse.


🚨 The effects of these funding cuts on the ground, for organizations like Manushya, are a death sentence. By shutting down critical protection programs, Trump & Musk are handing activists over to oppressive regimes.


📉 Trump & Musk are dismantling decades of U.S. democracy-building work by not only attacking USAID, but also the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the National Democratic Institute (NDI), and the International Republican Institute (IRI)—institutions that have long supported human rights defenders, journalists, and democracy activists worldwide.


⚖️ A federal judge has temporarily lifted the freeze, but Trump’s administration continues blocking access to funds.
