Why Do We Celebrate #TransgenderAwarenessWeek?
Let's celebrate together this community of beautiful people and let the message sound loud and clear: We stand with you, we support you, we love you! šš³ļøāā§ļø
š” Why do we celebrate #TransgenderAwarenessWeek? Despite progress in many countries around the world, transgender persons still face discrimination in many areas of everyday life such as access to housing, employment and public services. Too often, they become victims of transphobic violence and harassment, and have to face hate speech, which has a deep impact on their mental health and well-being!
š£ #TransgenderAwarenessWeek is a week leading up to the Transgender Day of Remembrance on 20 November, commemorating the life of Rita Hester, an African American transgender woman who was killed in 1998 because of who she was! Let's never forget her story!
