#YouthDay: Believing in the Power of Youth!
On 12 August, we celebrate International Youth Day by highlighting the power of Youth in bringing change to the world and saluting the brave Thai Pro-democracy Youth!
Young people aren't just the leaders of tomorrow – they're the ones making strides in changing the world around them, right now. From climate change to social injustice to political reform, youth has been at the forefront of the fight. They raise questions that others avoid mentioning directly, like the abusive use of the Lese Majeste law or the human rights violations against an exiled political activist like #Wanchalerm that sparked huge youth-led political movements around Thailand.
The Thai pro-democracy youth such as Rung, Penguin, Benjar, Maynu, Get, Tawan, Bung, Bai Por, and many others are all fearless young spirits. The Thai government and authorities must hear their concerns rather than put them in jail. They're the voice of the present and the future that the leaders of today need to listen to so that society moves towards positive changes.
