On 24 June 2019, Manushya Foundation joined 225 other national, regional and international civil society organisations to call for the Thai government to recognise the right to community land use in Sap Wai village. The joint statement urges the government to drop all charges against the 14 land rights defenders, scrap the Reclamation of the Forest Policy, ensure that people’s sovereignty is respected, fulfil its international Human Rights obligations and stop criminalising human rights defenders and especially women human rights defenders, and protect them instead.
